This is always the hardest list to rank, and so many excellent songs didn’t make the cut – it’s been a fantastic year for music from bands both old and new. My Top 10 Albums of the Year, 2017

2017 has been a fantastic year for music, with the ‘surprise release’ being the theme of the year. Be it bands dropping albums out of nowhere with no warning, or announcing audacious plans to release five albums in a year (I’m looking at you, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard), in 2017 you’ve never quite known what’s coming next. Gig Review: Godspeed You! Black Emperor at Warwick Arts Centre, 22/10/2015

Before entering Warwick Arts Centre on Thursday night, I had not listened to any Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but I knew two things about the band. 1) They are a post-rock band. 2) They are one of the most critically acclaimed live acts in the world. Here’s what I thought of both Godspeed and their support act, Dead Rat Orchestra.
